6th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero
From the ominous horns of Jaws or A Quiet Place signaling fear, to the heroic Star Wars theme, music has always been an important supporting character in movies. In the world of superheroes, music sets an emotional tone more than virtually any other genre. This panel offers a behind-the-scenes look at the music of today's biggest superhero film and TV projects with unreleased film clips and never-before-heard music. Participating composers include Tyler Bates (Deadpool 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 2), Marco Beltrami (Logan, The Wolverine), Christophe Beck (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Kurt Farquhar (Black Lightning), and Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow). Moderated by Ray Costa of Costa Communications.

Featuring creatives behind Deadpool 2, A Quiet Place, The Transformers franchise, Cobra Kai, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, and DC Super Hero Girls, experts in the sound field, including composers, sound mixers, and sound editors, talk about setting tone and controlling the soundscape down to the pow of the last karate chop. Whether slaying trolls, chasing the undead, or beating the bad guys, sound is an essential part of telling stories in films and TV shows. Panelists include Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson (Cobra Kai), Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia), Michael Gatt (DC Super Hero Girls, Braid), Mark Stoeckinger of Formosa Group (Deadpool 2), Erik Aadahl of E² Sound (A Quiet Place, Transformers franchise), and Cindy O'Connor (Once Upon a Time). Hear from composers, music supervisors, and professionals on how they create and bring music to your favorite projects in film, television, and video games. Composers Nima Fakhrara (Detroit: Become Human, The Signal), Carly Paradis (The Innocents), and Benjamin Wynn A.K.A. DERU (Impulse, Avatar: The Last Airbender) will be joined by music supervisors and executives at Fox Music, senior vice president John Houlihan (Deadpool 2) and senior vice president of Television Music Sony Pictures Entertainment Tony Scudellari (Breaking Bad), to discuss the process of writing music and how songs are selected for your fan-favorite projects. The panel will be moderated by Chandler Poling of White Bear PR, followed by a Q&A with the audience.

The Sneaky Tiki Freaky Geeky Ukulele Play and Sing-Along
It's a fun hands-on, time-warping, intergalactic, magical, middle-earth, and sci-fi "superhero-like" ukulele sing- and play-along. Characters are welcome. Interpretive dance and air ukulele are encouraged. There will be a number of ukuleles on hand for use (while they last), and the songs will be projected onto a screen for everyone to follow along. This panel is hosted by KEV, the world's most okayist ukulele player.
