The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con: One Token to Play

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Avengers, The Justice League, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other films are big-budget romps where the boys get to play all they want, but the girls only get one "token" representation. Why are there so many stories that limit themselves to including a single woman? With so few token spots for women, where does this leave women of color and members of the LGBTQ community? And why hasn't Harley Quinn gotten her dang own movie yet? To answer these questions, Action Flick Chick Katrina Hill (100 Greatest Graphic Novels, Action Movie Freak)has assembled some women who are dangerous in their own right: Tamara Brooks (Women Wrestling Friends Podcast, DC Comics DCTV Couch Club), Dani Fernandez (host at How Stuff Works and Nerdist), Markeia McCarty (Nerdist, Collider Heroes), Sarah Rodriguez (podcast host, Marvel's Agent Carter Season One: Declassified), Dr. Janina Scarlet (Superhero Therapy, Therapy Quest), and Jessica Tseang (Little Geek Girls, comic book historian).
