Mary Shelley (1797-1851) was so much more than the 17-year-old girl who eloped with her married boyfriend and wrote the immortal classic Frankenstein. Shelley is also the mother of both the science fiction and horror genres and wrote a novel so subversive that it was not published until 1959. Lisa Morton (president, the Horror Writers Association; Ghosts: A Haunted History), Leslie Klinger (The New Annotated Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes technical advisor), Kate Jonez (chief editor at Omnium Gatherum Press, Best Horror of the Year), Gillian Horvath (showrunner, Primeval: New World; co-executive producer, Beauty & the Beast for CW), Kate Maruyama (professor, Antioch; Harrowgate), and New York Times bestselling author Nancy Holder (writer, Mary Shelley Presents comic book series from Kymera Press) discuss the importance of Mary Shelley in the cultural landscape. Moderated by D. Lynn Smith (publisher, Kymera Press).
